Horsehead Nebula

CCD vs Film? Lots of time vs no patience? Alright, this is your place to discuss all the astrophotography what's and what's not. You can discuss about techniques, accessories, cameras, whatever....just make sure you also post some nice photos here too!

thanks jeff. i figured i'll need to get rid of the vignetting too... i'll try to use a gaussian blur emulated flat field frame too.
but i guess a good image needs to start from acquisition. so i'll try that too.

You can reduce the vignetting by using a scope whose illumination circle is wider. For the image processing situation, I find Croman's tool very effective.

Hi Amin7074,
Good effort but I think image is over processed already. The horsehead is no longer obvious in the picture. This effect is similar to those found in some of the point-and-shoot cameras in which the manufacturers use aggressive algorithms to remove noise from their images. Try to cut back until the horsehead becomes more define.
Cheers
