my st102f5az refractor gives this very peculiar out-of-focus pattern - a disc with a diagonal (more or less) line across it.
in a reflector or other hybrids, one may gets a cross, and the black center, but a single diagonal line in a refractor? where can that possibly comes from? the diagonal?
i'll try to capture the image and do some tests of elimination, but would appreciate some tips from here.
thanks.

Re: Star Testing
I have that book. It is very theoretical, but very useful.ariefm71 wrote:Hi, i need some advise on doing a star test. Anyone read this book before: http://www.willbell.com/tm/tm5.htm? Any other good references/links out there?

Are you by any chance using a 45 deg Amci erect image diagonal? These diagonals are not suitable for astro use as they cause a single line across a bright star.
