For Sale: INTES MK-67 OTA with FREE Dry Cabinet

Post by Debash »

Dear all

As I do not have much time for this hobby, I’m selling most of my astro gear. First to go is:

Optical Tube: INTES MK-67, Maksutov-Cassegrain design

Made in Russia. I purchased this from ITE Astronomy (s.no. 1.238) for US$1,225 (original receipt available). It has legendary Russian optics, built like a tank and well adjusted right from the factory – it has never needed a collimation since it was delivered from the USA. MK-67 performance exceeds that of a 4" APO on planetary detail and is comparable to the average 8" Newtonian on deep sky.

Excelsis review:
http://www.excelsis.com/1.0/entry.php?s ... entryid=16

Specifications:
Clear aperture : 150mm (6 inches)
Focal length : 1800mm (f/12)
OTA dimensions : 7" dia. X 14" long
Weight : 4.5 Kgs
Strehl Ratio : 94%
Resolution (on axis) : 0.8 arc seconds

The Certificate of Optical Quality for the OTA is also included.

Price : S$1,100 [firm]

The OTA comes with:
• Vixen Dovetail Bar/ Adapter Plate
• Airline carry-on soft padded case
• Built-in handle for carrying the scope
• Front (metal) and rear (plastic) covers
• Crayford focuser
• Telrad base

Extra accessories (prices if purchased with the OTA):
• [s]Telrad Finderscope : S$ 60[/s]
•[s]Antares 8X50 Right Angle Correct Image Finderscope, with diagonal thumbscrew for rotating diagonal (purchased from Scopestuff): S$ 130[/s]
• Astrozap Dewshield (6” dia): S$50

All the above items are in “Mint” (10 of 10) condition, no scratches or blemishes of any kind. The optics are free from fungus, scratches or dust (can’t avoid minor specks of dust). It has been kept in dry cabinet when not in use.

If you are interested, please SMS me at 96362779. Viewing at Melville Park (Simei Street 1)

Finderscope - sold

Still available: INTES MCT OTA with finderscope rings ($1,100); Telrad ($60) & Astrozap dewshield (6") $50

If you appreciate quality Russian optics & not mass produced Chinese ones, with optical specifications for this specific scope certified by Astronomer (Mike Palermiti), the performance of 4" Apo in a small package (4.5kgs) - the INTES 6" Maksutov of Rumak design is still available. the OTA is in pristine condition.

"Built to last, with metal everywhere, this Intes Mak is a superb example of Dmitri Maksutov’s creation. It is a Rumak Maksutov, so features a collimatable secondary (as well as primary), instead of an aluminized spot as found on a standard Maksutov Cassegrain. To eliminate mirror shift often found in the catadioptric design, the primary is fixed, and an external Crayford focuser is fitted. All the optics are multicoated. The meniscus corrector is made of first grade Russian BK7 glass and is multicoated and enhanced for maximum UV light transmission"

Thanks, guys....appreciate your kind comments. Just want to clarify here...its a fantastic piece of glass and machinery, and will give you many many years of enjoyment, the views through it are awesome. A beginner might find the cost a bit prohibitive, that is because it is meant for serious work for many years to come, not at all a beginner's intro to astronomy or to be upgraded to a better scope in a couple of years time.

It is well known that the optical quality of this scope rivals that of a 4 inch apochromat, at a fraction of apo price. I hope it gets to stay within this community.
