Powering Astrophotography Gear Overseas

Post by jwqw8 »

Hi all,

I'm planning a trip to northern western australia for astrophotography, but I realised that I will not be able to bring my Ecoflow River power station over since its 288Wh capacity exceeds the airline's 160Wh limit.

Any suggestions from any veterans here on how to power my rig when I'm out there?

So far, I've come up with:
1. Power my gear through the 12V port on my rental vehicle (not ideal - probably have to leave the rental vehicle running through the night)
2. Do astrophotography from my hotel (also not ideal - most hotels are within Broome's light dome)
3. Bring several airline-safe batteries and swap through the night (not ideal - have to thermally cycle the camera each time)
4. Buy and dump a power generator / power station there (not ideal - super wasteful)
