Getting star trails - still not getting it

CCD vs Film? Lots of time vs no patience? Alright, this is your place to discuss all the astrophotography what's and what's not. You can discuss about techniques, accessories, cameras, whatever....just make sure you also post some nice photos here too!

Getting star trails - still not getting it

Post by Sivakis »

Am I doing something wrong here?

Canon EOS 1000D (crop, 1.6)
Lens: 18-55

Focal length set at ~ 37mm (~60mm on crop)
Facing SSE
Angle: 55 to 60 degrees
Shutter speed: Anything faster than 6 secs is ok. Anything slower than 6 secs I start to see star trails beginning to form....

According to weixing's chart, I should be able to shoot 20 seconds without star trails?
