Just an updates from Shell Astro Challenge from SCC

Dear Teachers
Thank you for your enthusiasm and passion in promoting the “night” sky last Friday to your students and the community. It was indeed a successful exercise. All of you had managed to enthuse and excite people about what is out there in the night sky.
14 schools participated in the competition. The counting has not been an easy exercise with schools having overwhelming response. But what is encouraging is that our officials and members noticed that the families were enjoying themselves and we would like to thank the schools for their effort in organizing the evening’s events with many activities in the spirit of promotion of science and astronomy.
A total of 12,393 visitors were recorded for all 14 schools. The results of the Top 3 schools has been announced on the website. There has been a slight delay in the uploading of the information as we needed to check against each form and also to ensure that committee has signed against the tally.
The results are as follow: -
Total Count in School/ Count per telescope
1st Prize
Christ Church Secondary/ Christ Church Secondary
2400 participants/ 800 participants
2nd Prize
Madrasah Aljunied Al-Islamiyah/ Elias Park Primary
1951 participants/ 437 participants
3rd Prize
Elias Park Primary/ Madrasah Aljunied Al-Islamiyah
1748 participants/ 325 participants

Wow! Congratulations!
The teachers must be proud. I was impressed that the teachers from Elias Park Primary were young and enthusiastic! They seemed to be as excited as the students!
