Orion Nebula (not again?)

CCD vs Film? Lots of time vs no patience? Alright, this is your place to discuss all the astrophotography what's and what's not. You can discuss about techniques, accessories, cameras, whatever....just make sure you also post some nice photos here too!

Orion Nebula (not again?)

Post by rcj »

Hi all!

Rainy days call for diggin up old data for processing. Not even sure which refractor was used for this image, but it should be a 3-inch. Pardon the blue halos! Taken solely in Singapore. No hydrogen alpha component. This was one of the the first few colour attempts in the course of CCD imaging back then. Presented as it is.... from 2006, though somehow never posted before!

Great picture~! Beautiful..
Indeed is the "Great"
Anyway, when will we able to observe Orion at the side of the nightsky and not at the top of it...
This month seems to be at the top and my scope mount cant do a 90degrees position...

yes, sometimes it is better known as the Great Orion Nebula. Nowadays the constellation is up about "midway" in the easten sky by about 9PM local time, which it would be in its 'horizontal' position. To see it in this position again, would require one staying up till late, observing it in the western direction..

ya... I used my sky program that comes with my scope when i bought it...
i can see that i have to wait until like 3am.
So i was thinking when will be observing the Great Orion Nebula up at the eastern or western sky? you know?
