Tracked 2 satellites tonight!

Post by jermng »

Was casually viewing Pleaides with my widefield refractor at about 23x when I saw a tiny "star" slowly drifting up so I tracked it for a little while.

Suddenly, when I was still following the first satellite, a much larger and brighter satellite came into the FOV and passed the first satellite going down.

Seeing the 2nd one was brighter, I changed direction and followed it down. :) Didn't have time to change to higher mag as it was really quite fast and I was sharing EP time with my girlfriend so we each only had one FOV worth of time each turn until the satellite went behind some flats. :)

It was beautiful! I've never had 2 satellites cross paths in the FOV before. Anyway, did a check on Starry NIght, the 2nd satellite was "Clementine." Couldn't find info on the first one though .. :)
