Hi,
i'm into astronomy and i've a 300D.
I shoot tipically 5m @ 800iso / 1600iso @ F/4 - F/5.6.
My 300D is quite old (8500 shots) and i see its price drops day by day (now it's quoted 400euros body only, IF I'M LUCKY, in my country).
I'm on budget now but maybe on next spring things could be better.
THE MAIN QUESTION: since low noise is critical factor to me, i'd sell now 300D (before shutter life has gone) and buy a second hand 20D or wait spring 2007 for 40D?
20D is 1 stop better than my 300D as i saw around the web, not too much, indeed.
The problem is that we dont know if 40D will released at spring 2007.
Will be a 40D a huge improvement from 300D (DIGIC III=noise outperfomer (i hope a decrement of noise 1.5 time AT LEAST from my 300D) or 40D will be a 10MP with small pixels so no great advantage from odiern technology (20D/30D)?
Thanks for comments.
PS: 30D and 400D were a little disappointment to me, about noise profile (equal or slighty worse than 20D....)
Upgrading now (Canon 20D second-hand) or wait (Canon 40D)?
