Jupiter from the Dome

CCD vs Film? Lots of time vs no patience? Alright, this is your place to discuss all the astrophotography what's and what's not. You can discuss about techniques, accessories, cameras, whatever....just make sure you also post some nice photos here too!

Hi,
The image looks fine, but the colour of your image look odd... especially the pink Moon... :P :P
Videos of Jupiter/Saturn were wavering at best (likes turbulence)
IMHO, there are a few possible cause:
1) atmospheric turbulence,
2) scope is not fully cool down,
3) turbulence cause by near by building and road cooling down, or
4) localise turbulence cause by temperature different inside the dome and outside the dome... especially if you on the air-conditional.

Have a nice day.

Auto processed by registrax (think more than 500 frames) except wavelet (overly processed) using manual.
Saturn looks great. The colour balance need to be adjusted a bit though so that can get a more natural colour. But the details are there.

All these pictures give me motivation to use my webcam again. Let me know when you are there next time. This time, let me collimate the scope perfectly and then we shoot!

It was almost 12am and clouds were coming in fast & furious. Chris had just left but Vincent tried imaging with the B/W Stellacam II via a Meade 6.3 FR. Managed to view some DSO and pictures taken directly on TV screen.

Hey WK, the photos turn out better than I thought!!

I intend to get a colour filter wheel and try to get RGB from the Stellacam 2. Then record direct into a DV cam. Bring back home, slowly process those video files into colour images.

The Meade 14" tracking is unbelievably good!
