No, when they first hatch, the are featherless. This one is about a few weeks old. I just took over last week from the parents....

Yeah.. thanks! I have them in individual cages, plus disinfection schedules daily, weekly, and isolated ICU for any bird that looks sick! Not to mention the usage of Lysol, Virkon, and Chlorhexidine. Only thing I lack is a positive pressure room to keep them in, else my house would probably have lower bact count than your OT! Heh..

This is so cute!!!! Now you're a "Daddy Bird"!!! Tachyon, can I see the bird? Can I? Can I? I'll like to pay it a visit!!! I haven't seen baby birds for years!!!!!!!!

Previously, all my budgies refused to mate!! I must have gotten all the "gays" & "lesbians"...
You know dat children are growing up when they start asking questions that have answers...

Klutz ... did you give them a room or enclosed space? If your cage is open concept, they'll be too shy to do anything ... :)

Hi Andrew,

Didn't know you also keep parrots, so that's something else we have in common besides astronomy. Is your lovebird a locally bred hand-fed bird? Is it already weaned?

So, I should do a DNA check for my birds (if I should rear any again) next time. Make sure they aren't siblings ya? And like what Jeremy suggest, I'll need not only "rooms" and curtains then... perhaps I'll even need a lovely man-made nest.

Or better still, send the birds for "marriage crash course" by Tachyon's budgies?

Tachyon, tell us how "you" do it? :D
