Hi,
I also enjoy those weixing sessions but sadly, he don't usually hold it at the mosque field anymore.
Thanks to the two large "laser beam" from the Mosque... :( Anyway, will start tampines session again when weather clear up, but will try out the big field opposite the Mosque... to see whether will be better.

Anyway, my most memorable experience will be my first Batu Layar trip - My first observation in a true dark site... thanks to Richard Low (rlow) for bringing me there and introduce me to the milky way!!! :D

Also, my first (I think so) Mersing Trip with Ariefm71, John Tay and Elton... a unforgettable night with my scope pointing all over the sky!! :D

Have a nice day.

Weixing, you're welcome. I didnt remember it was your first trip there, as you were already so experienced then!

I started reading on my favorite topic, astronomy, in kindergarten when i salvaged my uncle's old geography textbook, then i borrowed astro books from the library. When I was in Primary 2, my teacher brought a 6" Newtonian for the school exhibition and i was assigned to be in charge of handling the scope to show to the students. After the exhibition, I asked my teacher and he said he was an amatuer astronomer. I asked him to show me how to identify the stars in the sky and he taught me how to identify constellations and navigate through the star field. That same night, I look up to the sky, followed his instructions, and identified Orion, Canis Major, Taurus etc. I then pestered my dad to buy me a pair of binoculars (Tento 10x50) and I have continued observing since then.

I was hooked onto astronomy by my P2 form teacher who drew out the outlines of the constellations orion, cygnus, etc to my class. I became intrigued and started going to the library regularly to read up on astro.

I broke off astro at P5-P6 due to PSLE (yea, i was, and still is, a good boy)

Then when i joined Bukit Panjang Govt. High, i chanced upon the Astronomy counter and naturally, i joined, having some basis in it. Practical astronomy wasnt really suited for Singapore so i was indulged in theoretical astronomy and cosmology (cheers, tachyon!) and started going to competitions to learn more from other fellow astronomers. And after going to the astro-camp in Ngee Ann, i started interacting with astronomers at the school level before going to Segamat with Cosmocraft. Then i met remus there and over lunch he introduced to us Singastro and well, here i am.
