Science Centre Planetarium

Got a question on astronomy that you'd wanted to ask? Ask your questions here and see if the old timers can give you some good answers.

Would you like Singapore to have a working planetarium?

What's that?

It doesn't matter. I think the general public won't go.

Definitely! I will be willing to contribute! We need to show our kids what the sky can really look like!

Are you saying they have one??
I remember back in my primary school days (shortly after a supernova formed M1 ! ) there was this space show where we sat lying down and they featured the night sky via a number of square projectors. the ceiling was flat, not dome shaped like modern planetariums..

Anyway, the planetarium is the Omni-Theatre:

By the way, I still haven't been in the Omni-Theatre before... no show that interest me yet... :P

Have a nice day.

Yes, I went to the planetarium when I first visited Singapore in February 1997. When I came back in 1999 it was already closed. The projector was still present in the Omni-theatre, but effectively mothballed.

The show was quite good, but the projector technology is pretty outdated compared with the modern multi-media planteria.

Go well,
Jeremy
