Hello Adam, first of all welcome to this very big family of astronomers :D . For your information, if you are looking for observation partners, do remember to check this forum as there will be people sending observation notices.
For your case if you are joining SP when the AY starts, do come down for our observations. We have friday session every week (even in the holidays). Usually the place to gather first will be in our clubhouse (T11311), the basketball court or the stadium.
You can contact me (91837064) if you wish to join us in our observations.

BTW, we have an event on Venus Transit on Tuesday (8th June) in the SP Stadium. You are advised to be there before 11am. Do join us!

Regards,
Sam

Hi,
Welcome to the world of Astronomy and SingAstro. I'm weixing... :)

Just check out the Events & Observation Sessions section in the forums. I always post my observations session there and you are welcome to join me.

By the way, there should be another observation session next saturday night and we may have it in the west... so check out the Events & Observation Sessions section regularly.

Have a nice day.

Adam,

You seemed a little confused, so let me clear up some of the clouds in your mind. I'm from SP Astronomers, and you don't need to be in any kind of organisation or friends to join in our observation session. Just give me a call or sms me if you are interested in joining our session. I'll be delighted to introduce you to some of our local astronomers.

Do remember the Venus Transit on Tuesday, you don't wanna miss that!

Regards,
Sam

Hey Sam,

I was refering to observations outside of Singapore Polytechnic..I know for a fact that Sp Astronomers hold observations for members of the public regularly n i'd like 2 applaud u guys for doing tt.I definitely wont miss the Venus Transit n i look forward 2 seeing u guys(u,Geraldine n the other SP astronomers)on the 8th :)

And now that i know i can just drop by n join the observations,i guess i'll probably b arnd regularly. It's nice to have people to hang out with for a change..

One last thing,i've pondered the notion of joining SP Astrnomers...i dropped by the clubhouse once to submit the form..but i had so many assignments to complete tt i had to forgo joining..which is a pity, cos i really wanted to.so when school starts...ermm,what do i do?Do i have to go 2 tt fair with all the 'freshies' or can i just join through u guys?i'll pay tt 10 bucks when i c u guys when school reopens. :D

Cheers

Usually if you see a observation note in this forum, it means that there will be people setting up in a particular area. They will be very happy to see other astronomers joining in, so you don't need to worry about not knowing anyone. Just inform them you are coming and grab their contact number just in case.

To join the club, you just need to come down to our observation one of these fridays. :D

Sam

aiyahh adam..
Sam Lee is THE president of the SP astro club. With him guiding you, you can't go wrong. Even better if you are a star trek fan!
anyway, welcome to singastro. this is not a private club. its a group where people from all over who share a passion for the stars can meet up to talk shop and do some star gazing. you don't need to know anyone to join in...anyway, after a few hours, you will make alot of new friends. so do join in the fun...!
