CCD vs Film? Lots of time vs no patience? Alright, this is your place to discuss all the astrophotography what's and what's not. You can discuss about techniques, accessories, cameras, whatever....just make sure you also post some nice photos here too!

Remus didn't put anything online, so you won't find it anywhere..

Best that he explains it himself.

I'll just give a brief outline:
Select stars, feather, use filter>others>Minimal to contract the stars further and make them look tighter and more pinpoint..

Just experiment and see. :)

Is there something in your second image that is supposed to be "wrong"? I can't find any.
However, I found that the chromatic aberation is quite bad. The WO may not be an APO but it shouldn't have produced such a bad aberation. My 80mm F7.5 achro produced much better correction.
If the weather is good, I may try to test out the scope for its imaging capability.

hi CK, suffice to say for imaging, the lxd55 exceeded my expectation and the zs66 didn't.
for visual use, both are very good, and work together surprisingly well.

Hi,
hi CK, suffice to say for imaging, the lxd55 exceeded my expectation and the zs66 didn't. for visual use, both are very good, and work together surprisingly well.
Why are you surprise that both work well together... in fact they should. If your lxd55 cannot handle a 66mm scope and there is nothing wrong with your alignment, I think you can dump that mount and find a new mount... :P

Anyway, try using a LPR filter, it'll reduce the CA and enchance the nebulosity.

Have a nice day.

thanks for the suggestion. but i'm using/used a LPS filter.
the CA could have been made worse by my minimal, poor ps processing. anyone got an orion 80mm apo to let go...?

thanks for the suggestion tommy. but mine is a hypertuned version (a plate on the mount body claims so) - not by me, apparently by a previous owner. i'm the 3rd, at least...

yes, i'm on the poor man path already... that reminds me, i have to post some photos of my poor man, but operational, backyard obs. without it i won't be doing no imaging...

Wow KingKong, is that your observatory? I'll be heading down to Borneo end June/early July - Sabah for an extended trip - maybe I can meet you. A long drive would be fun for me .. :)
