CCD vs Film? Lots of time vs no patience? Alright, this is your place to discuss all the astrophotography what's and what's not. You can discuss about techniques, accessories, cameras, whatever....just make sure you also post some nice photos here too!
That is a commendable effort for a first attempt. The focus and exposure are pretty good. I like the prominences in HA and the sunpots on CAK. You can get even better images with stacking and using a BW camera.
Here are some images taken on 18 Jan 15 when there were clouds. My camera is a Imaging Source DMK camera. The ASI120 mono chrome also give comparable images.
Hi Alvin
Good shot.In spite of using a double stack
Ha filter the sun is quite featureless today
except for the prominences. There were no
Filaments unluckly.Thanks for the experience
of shooting the sun with ccd.
Hi Alfred
Yes saw that fat filament which in the next day
become a nice and rare cak prominence at the edge
the next day.Nice photo. Thanks for sharing.
Yesterday the Sun was clouded out most of the time. The patient wait for it was rewarded with a nice H-Alpha image at 5:35 pm, just before sunset and a Solar Picture of the Day at http://solarchat.natca.net/
Thanks Alvin for the upload and enhancement that made the
Lightbridge show up more prominently.thanks again.
The follow should be noted
1)The lightbridge showed up during the upcoming
of activities.....contrary to the normal believe that it
appear within the umbra to split the sunspot.
2)it orginally took a slight v shape then straighten.
3)After it appeared those 600,000km gas trial
begin to appear.
4)Its true.....after careful observing....that the light bridge is brighter than
The other bright regions of the sun.
Frankly this is one of the most stable
Light bridge I had ever seen.
Hi All
A light bridge in the sun normally is
a)an observed bright streak across the umbra or between
the umbra of two sunspot.
b)it may be the bright streak that suddenly occur in the
Umbra that result in the sunspot becoming two sunspot.
c) actually its suspected to be a place of severe activities
.......vortex?......gas oozing into/out of the sun?.....or
is it a region of severe compression of the gases/plasma
producing high temperature?Well only fulture research will tell.
Anyway through an eyepiece its just a bright streak between
a dark region in the sun.
