Nice shot of M42...considering your upgrade and set up this is very satisfying to see and hear about! Shows that the config worked well! Keep us posted on future developments! Interesting to hear more about this! Any changes to PHD settings like calibration ms, RA, etc? Guide rates help here and there and syncing that with PHD makes for some mean guiding!
My wife never complained about how much time, effort & money I spent on my Astronomy hobby!................suddenly I met her!!!

Hi ,
I do not adjust any defaults of PHD other than capture time if guidestar is faint. Normally 1 or 1.5 seconds are found adequate. If the balancing of mount is correct the calibration routine normally does not go beyond 30 seconds max in one direction (Normally W count is found Max), in my set up.
I think I got good guiding results because,
1. Using a pier is much more stable than a tripod.
2. Drift alignment was good, being a permenant set up.
I have added a better pic in album.

Then thats good tracking. I will second the fact that with a perm pier set up makes for steady and consistent tracking everytime. Which is why i made my balcony planter box pier. Aligned south, 3 days of 5 mins drift alignment and everything is set. Plus u get rigidness and stability. Dont even need to perform star alignments. I have my wires all in a diy box so i just have to plug them in and im done.
Nice set up u have.
