Mersing Astrophotos 18-20 May 2012

CCD vs Film? Lots of time vs no patience? Alright, this is your place to discuss all the astrophotography what's and what's not. You can discuss about techniques, accessories, cameras, whatever....just make sure you also post some nice photos here too!

Mersing Astrophotos 18-20 May 2012

Post by cataclysm »

Finally sorted out the photos, yes it's another dusk to dawn imaging marathon, 2 clear nights, wheres the skies actually outlasted my will to stay awake. In fact had a self-imposed break on the 2nd night after 3am in order to have sufficient rest for the long drive home.
Again I had 2 imaging setup to maximise photon collections...lol! A heavy AP Mach 1 & 8" newtonian for higher res imaging and the light weight GM8 & FSQ85 for widefield works. This trip also feature the 'new' modified 450D DSLR, with deeper cooling, it works flawlessly on it's first field trip coupled with the FSQ for the widefield imaging. Here are the photos:

Leo Trio: AP Mach 1, 8" Newt, Baader MPCC, Modified 350D, 10x10 min ISO 800

NGC6888/ Crescent Nebula : AP Mach 1 , 8" Newt, Baader MPCC, Modified 350D, 8x10 min ISO800

M8 / Lagoon Nebula: AP Mach 1, 8" Newt, Baader MPCC, Modified 350D, 5x8 min & 5x10 min ISO800

M16/Eagle Nebula: AP Mach 1, 8" Newt, Baader MPCC, Modified 350D, 10x10 min ISO 800

M24/ Sagittarius Star Cloud: GM8, FSQ85, 0.73x reducer, Modified 450D, 7x6 min ISO1600
