Anyone been to Bosscha Ob at Bandung before?

Alright, this is for sharing of your observation experience. Or, if you are arranging gatherings, star-gazing expeditions or just want some company to go observing together, you can shout it out here.

Hi would like to ask if anyone has been to this observatory and can advise me on booking on the public visit (there's one available on 7th and 8th July) but instructions are in Bahasa Indon.

Any advice on lodging/thanks, preferably near the Bosscha Ob would be great too.

Thanks

try the online translator such as Google Translator

Bandung is a huge city in fact a tourist city where because of the cooler temperature (26 deg) the rich and famous from Jakarta will come down and spend the weekend.

So plenty of hotels from international chains to backpackers. Food not a problem. Sundanese take less curry. For first time visitor stay away from hawker food.

Transport from the very cheap hop in hop out angkut(fixed rate depending on distance) to daily car/van rental I recommend with driver; be prepared to negotiate.

Bandung is the OEM factory for European brands for clothings and leather goods. So don't forget to visit the factory outlets for bargains.

Or you can get a volcanic mud bath and a rub in very cheaply. Plenty of spas.

You will see the moon upside down and Orion too.

cheers

Hi Weedee.

I have called my friend who stays in Bandung to check on the method to get to Bosscha Observatory.

I went into their web site that you mentioned :- http://bosscha.itb.ac.id/en/visit/night.html
And when I went through the date, for July only 8th and 12th still open for admission. Pls take note that they only take in 200pax, so pre booking is definitely required....as 7th July slot already fully taken.
I think this observatory is like our previous science centre which requires a write in , which now our science centre just a walkin will do on every friday night.
