Saturn 26 Feb 11

Good to see the ring planet revealing its ring plane again. But the more interesting phenomenon is the electric storm of immense scale is still raging on its northern hemisphere. Barely perceptible visually with my mewlon probably due to its low surface brightness, but the camera showed it easily. Guys with big scope, this will be an interesting visual challenge. On this night seeing was above average, but transparency was poor, the planet looked dim and the colours were subdued.

Captured with Tak Mewlon 210, DMK21 mono cam and 3x Televue barlow

Good results despite of not so good seeing :) , and storms clouds on Saturn is not so easy to capture.

Are you using coloured-filters then stacking?

Mind sharing which filters and the stacking numbers?

Not for me to dig out...lol! For those who have them and been sitting there for awhile. Had an 8 incher...not any more. Back to a nice 5". But I do miss the closeness like what Cat did with his Mewlon!

Thanks for sharing Kelvin. Saturn is becoming interesting again !
And yeah...that storm looks great. Maybe I can built an IR there and take advantage of the spectacular lighting. But the Saturnian Astronomers will be complaining.. [smilie=crying3.gif]
