Instead of just lelong, perhaps we can invite everyone to bring their scopes if possible? then we can have a astor equipment fest at the same time.
of course, better still if our vendors can be there to showcase theit stuff...just let everyone know this is an informal thingy....

yeah i second that....since already much trouble has been taken to hold the event, and since people are coming, may as well include more activities...like Rich has suggested. Is there a digital projector? Could have slide show stuff...otherwise I have a slide projector...this would be a good time to have interaction with everyone, and get-together introduction with the newbies, and catching up with the veterans..., and in any case, if this arrangement is too troublesome or big, let me know if more help is needed, i will get an entourage if possible.
It'll be one of the busiest periods of work for me... marking piles of exam scripts (I'm a primary school teacher)... but I will come... just got to go home early and continue marking till the dead of the night.
Can my wife come along? I'm introducing her to the hobby and SingAstro group... so that she can approve my upkeeping of other 'wives' (telescopes) ;). I may bring along my Vixen ED80Sf APO refractor with PORTA mount... not to sell, but to let members have a try-out and dispense advice.
We'll most likely prepare a 'mango & prawn salad' dish for the gathering.

Slide show: there is a projector in the function room, so Remus you can make a presentation if you want.
Equipment display: please PM me if you want to bring any equipment for display. This is to ensure we do not run out of space!
Astro items sale: I will create a new thread for those who want to list the items they are going to put up for sale during the event. Astro-related items only please.
Snacks and drinks: entirely voluntary. In particular, sponsorship in the form of packet drinks is solicited.
