Science Centre Planetarium

Got a question on astronomy that you'd wanted to ask? Ask your questions here and see if the old timers can give you some good answers.

Would you like Singapore to have a working planetarium?

What's that?

It doesn't matter. I think the general public won't go.

Definitely! I will be willing to contribute! We need to show our kids what the sky can really look like!

Haha, no.

Just want them to bring back the planetarium show because I think people will be interested.

Cheers,
Chris

I've seen a planetarium show at Omni theatre too. It's a great tool for people to learn to find their way around the night sky.

Oh yes... I did see the planetarium show quite a few times many years ago. There was one ocasion when Sir Patrick Moore was there, and I had his autograph on one of his book somewhere.... Not just that, but I also actually got access to the control room to control the planetarium and other multi-media equipment. That was a multi-media astronomy show competition organised by SSC for the JC astro clubs and I was helping the NJC astro club.

I have not seen it in action. But I did see a few back in India. The most I remember is the one from Hyderabad. With a capacity of somewhere near 150 (or 200? Can't remember..) its considered one of the best in India. Its a beauty to watch it in action! =)

Anyway back in India, you just need to travel away from the cities to see the sky spilling with heavenly objects. Just wonderful.
