Planets Beyond Pluto

Post by kochu »

Hi,

In fact there may be many more beyond Pluto. But astronomers have not decided whether these can be classified as planets. Even Plutos status is in doubt

There is a good article in Nov issue of Discover Magazine called "Beyond Pluto". Link as follows

Sedna, but I believe scientists classify it as a planetoid, not a true planet. Also, I remember reading somewhere that many astronomers and scientists feel that pluto is not a planet too, just one of many minor objects in the outer reaches of the solar system. However, since the IAU still rules pluto as a planet, the rest of us follow. I don't think any objects bigger than pluto beyond pluto can be discovered.
Strictly speaking, pluto is a Trans-Neptunian object(TNO).

The article dated 13 Oct 1999... it quite some years back.

IMHO if really exist, it should already be detected by current Space Telescope or may be it just not as big as they think. :P

Have a nice day.
